• The Advanced level guitar course is designed to educate all our learners about the higher studies in guitar, advanced playing techniques and thorough musical knowledge.
  • The student is introduced to various musical pieces.
  • The student learns how to play through step-by-step demonstration by the tutor.

Overview of Advanced level: 

  • Total Duration: 72 – 96 sessions

For individual student, the duration of each grade is 20– 24 sessions. For 2 students, the duration for each grade is 32 – 40 sessions

  • Age: 12 to 14 years or above at grade 6
  • Group Size:  Up to 2 learners 
  • Session Duration: 45 – 50 Minutes
  • Schedule: Once A Week 

The student can appear for International certification in music (Guitar) at every Grade. Sapthora will train the students for the exams. The fee for the exam will be borne by the student.
 The Advanced level course is from Grade 6 – Grade 8. 

Prerequisites to join the course

  • The learner should be 12 years and above. 
  • The learner should have completed the previous Intermediate level / grade. 

Tools, software and material needed:

  • Zoom Software
  • An acoustic guitar
  • Musical Manuscript
  • Armless chair for seating

Theory: 

  • The Melodic, Harmonic and Dorian minor scales in 3 octaves
  • The Pentatonic major and minor scales in 3 octaves
  • The Jazz melodic and the other modal scales in 3 octaves
  • Arpeggio in 2 octaves in any key
  • Dominant seventh in E major and starting and finishing on B

  • Reading staff notation only
  • Playing along with sheet music
  • Ear training and identifying chord progressions and dynamics
  • Ear training exercises relevant to the grade

  • The major and the Minor Arpeggio

  • Cadences in minor 6th and diminished 7th flattened 5th
  • Major seventh harmonised progressions
  • The 13th flattened 9th and its 6th progressions

Outcome by the end of the level: 

  • The learner will be able to read the sheet with all its dynamics. 
  • The learner will develop a strong theoretical and practical knowledge. 
  • Will develop a strong sense of rhythm and pitch. 
  • Can play sheet music with a given BPM of 180 and 200 plus.
  • The student can redeem his grade credits from 6 to 8 for his higher studies under UCAS.
  • The student is termed as professional guitarist and can independently be a solo
  • The student is now capable of taking the ADVANCED GUITAR CERTIFICATION COURSE exam from any music university.

1. What are the career opportunities after completion of grade 8?

A: You can join as a music tutor in any of the schools where they are looking for qualified tutors.You can join the Armed forces of any country wherein they offer regular posts to qualified musicians for the Air force, Army, and the Navy Bands.There are numerous openings in the police bands wherein they offer lucrative posts to qualified musiciansAIR and the DOORDARSHAN in India offer posts for musicians who have cleared Grade 5.Promotions are stopped if these selected musicians do not upgrade their existing grades.

2. Will I be able to learn Jazz or Blues or Indian classical after grade 8?

A: Any genre of music is possible as the basic foundation in music playing and music theory is achieved after finishing the music grades.

3. Can I teach after the Advanced level?

A: Yes, you can start to teaching confidently after Grade 5 itself for the Beginner level students up to Grade 3. Being an Advanced guitar certificate holder at grade 8 you can teach students from grade initial up to grade 8
