Prerequisites to Join the Course:

  • Academic Level: Completion of at least Grade 9 or equivalent.
  •   English Skills: Basic grammar knowledge, ability
    to read and understand passages, familiarity with writing structures.

  Weeks 1–2: Orientation and Diagnostic
  Objective: Introduce the PSAT/NMSQT structure, scoring, and digital test format.
• Overview of the PSAT, SAT Suite of Assessments.
• Download and explore the Bluebook app by College Board.
• Take a diagnostic test to assess current skill levels.
• Discuss strengths and weaknesses based on results

 Weeks 3–6: Reading Comprehension Skills
 Objective: Develop deep reading and comprehension strategies.
• Main idea, tone, author’s purpose, and point of view.
• Analyzing arguments, supporting evidence, and vocabulary in context.
• Working with literary, historical, and science-based passages.
• Use sample PSAT passages.
• Regular quizzes using Kaplan Free Resources and Khan Academy.

 Weeks 7–10: Writing and Language Mastery
 Objective: Master grammar and editing skills.
• Sentence structure, punctuation, subject-verb agreement.
• Parallelism, modifiers, transitions, and clarity.
• Word choice and rhetorical skills.
• Use Union Test Prep grammar quizzes and Kaplan’s sentence improvement drills.
• Weekly mini-lessons with sentence corrections.

Outcome by the end of the level:

  • Improve reading comprehension for passages across literature, history, social sciences, and science.
  • Identify main ideas, tone, purpose, and supporting details.
  • Recognize and correct common grammar and usage errors.
  • Strengthen vocabulary and context-based word meaning.
  • Develop skills to analyze arguments, evidence, and rhetorical strategies.
  • Write grammatically correct, concise, and clear sentences.
